  • Whether you register one month or just one day before the kick off session we provide you with support and resources to get stuck in before the group meets online for the first time.

    You can:

    • create your Squarespace account.

    • review Squarespace subscription plans.

    • browse template designs.

    • think about the pages you want.

    • begin drafting words for each page.

    • start collecting and organising images, videos and files such as PDFs you want to use.

    • Welcome and group introductions

    • Selecting a template design for your website

    • Defining a structure for your website

    • A walk through the Squarespace dashboard

    Followed by a personalised one-on-one online meeting (60 minutes) with your website coach (at a time that suits you) to ensure you’re comfortable with what we covered this week and confident going into the next session.

    • Review templates chosen by the group

    • Deeper dive into structures for your website

    • Introduction to page types and pre-designed page layouts you can choose from.

    • Introduction to content blocks (text, images, videos, PDFs, buttons, maps etc)

    • Creating contact forms.

    Followed by a personalised one-on-one online meeting (60 minutes) with your website coach (at a time that suits you) to ensure you’re comfortable with what has been covered and confident going into the next week.

    • Review group progress

    • Walkthrough process to add pages (the pages you have defined in your website structure document) to your menu as well as choose from the pre-designed page layouts.

    • Introduction to the drag-and-drop Fluid Engine editor.

    • Guide to resize your images for the web.

    • How to add your page content (words, images etc) in to the pages you have built

    • Introduction to choosing a colour palette and typefaces (aka fonts) to create the desired personality or "look and feel" you're after

    • Explore Collection lists and Collection articles including products, blogs, photo galleries, video libraries and events listings.

    • Final publishing session

    • Review website for bugs and errors to fix

    • Create Google Analytics account and integrate with your website

    • Launch your website!

    • Review group progress

    • Discuss process to review a website to identify bugs and fix errors before launching

Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment do I need to participate?

Participants will need a decent laptop or personal computer with sound, a microphone so we can hear you and a webcam so we can see you. Headphones will be an advantage if you want to keep the noise down at your end.

A good, reliable internet connection is also critical. Contact us if you’d like to do a quick test.

Which platform are we learning and why?

Participants will learn how to use the popular Squarespace website building platform.

We have been using Squarespace since 2014 and regionalrising.com.au is built with Squarespace. We have built dozens of websites on the platform and supported many people with different levels of digital literacy to build a website with their own hands!

Squarespace is template driven (ideal for learners) and is well known for its stunning designs. Importantly, the learning curve is very accessible for people who are comfortable using a laptop/computer and it is affordable.

It requires next to no IT “know how” and provides great learning resources and support by email and live chat.

Can I bring a friend for support?

Yes, you can bring a friend at no extra cost to support you to build your website or provide moral support.

Do I need to be good with computers to participate?

You don’t need to be “good” but it is important that participants are comfortable using their laptop or computer.

Common tasks we will perform include typing, using a web browser, and accessing, editing and saving documents and images on your computer and/or USB stick.

What should I expect?

You can expect a fun and rewarding learning experience with a relaxed vibe.

There will be materials for you to read before the first week to help you prepare, weekly groups sessions and regular 1:1 catch ups for participants with their instructor.

Do you offer a 1:1 course if I do not want to be part of a group?

Yes, we also offer 1:1 programs. Please contact us for details and pricing.

Do you offer any other coaching services besides website design?

Yes, we also offer personalised SEO coaching online to help people with an existing website to ranking higher on Google and this is also a valuable service to help new websites get found by Google.

What are the overall costs?

Our group course costs $950 per website which covers our time to deliver six weeks of tuition as well as the one-on-one coaching sessions in between.

We can also arrange a zero-interest payment plan if money is the only thing holding you back from starting! Contact us if you’d like to discuss.

The course does not include:

  • your annual subscription to Squarespace to have your website hosted on its platform. At the time of writing (Jan 2024) a personal website costs $264/year if you pay month to month (it’s 27% cheaper if you can afford to pay the annual cost upfront. ie. less than $200). Business and Commerce websites cost more.

  • the cost of a website domain name. You can bring your own domain if you have one or you can register one through us. A .com.au domain costs around $50 for a two year period.
