Unmani is an inspirational force of nature with a wonderfully innovative, entrepreneurial mind.

She lives on a farm with her family roughly 30 minutes outside of Horsham in Victoria’s Wimmera region, half way between Melbourne and Adelaide.

Early adopter of online collaboration

Using the Simply Music method Unmani teaches piano to her students. What’s incredible about Unmani is that her students are not local but located across Australia (including in remote communities) and around the world! Unmani was an early adopter of online meeting tools - before they were widely adopted during the pandemic - and uses them to demonstrate and teach musical instruments, including violin, guitar, accordion and singing. No matter where you live, you can learn with Unmani :-)

Meera, the sustainable music studio built by hand

Her innovative mindset doesn’t end there. Unmani is an “owner-builder” and with help from her friends she built by hand a stunning circular music studio using the “superadobe” sustainable building method in 2019. “Meera” was constructed with earthbags filled with scoria (volcanic rock) and featuring recycled silo plastic from the farm as well as cut-down speedway tyres for her rubber “tile” roof. Visitors for music recitals will enjoy next level acoustics complemented by the parquetry floors and an oculus featuring a brown snake mosaic above offering views of the Wimmera skies and stars.

Farm stay accommodation is born

Not content with only offering music lessons online and hosting recitals in the music studio, Unmani has transformed Meera into a farm stay for up to five people. Check out Meera on airbnb.

Our website design project (and more)

Unmani Music website design and SEO coaching review Google

Unmani left Regional Rising a lovely Google review which we hope other businesses considering working with us will find useful.

We were pleasantly surprised when Unmani approached us in 2019 to design a website for her fascinating business.

At first we were unsure how to help someone three hours away from our office (remember this was pre-pandemic when online meetings and screensharing weren’t as common as they are today) but we very quickly slipped into an online collaborative process of Zoom calls, screen sharing and file sharing of content, images, videos and project planning on Google Drive.

The scope of the website design project expanded to include:

  • SEO coaching to enhance the copywriting to feature keywords that people searching for piano lessons online actually enter into Google,

  • storytelling through blogging

  • marketing using her Facebook profile.

It was a dream of a project to work on: fusing a very visual, innovative rural business with digital marketing platforms that bring stories to life through video, images and words. The fact we could use technology to easily overcame the geographic barrier of not being able to meet physically was also hugely satisfying.

We even had the opportunity to visit the farm, experience Meera and spend time with Unmani in the flesh after the website launch while on a business trip to Horsham.
